A guide to Cancun, checked and kept current
Cancun is easy to book and easy to get wrong. I built Cancun Pointer so the useful bits are on the page before you spend money.
A lot of Cancun pages online are either a weekend blog that went stale, or a booking site that wants the click and skips the context. I would rather tell you which end of the Hotel Zone you are actually sleeping in.
Lia is 28, half Colombian and half German, and the editor of Pointer Guides. She loves travel, fitness and festivals, and she writes with German practicality and Colombian warmth. Guides are built from current sources (official venue info, recent traveller reviews, booking-site listings and local news), with prices and hours checked and pages refreshed when things change. Read more on the About Lia page. The guides cover the Hotel Zone versus downtown, how to reach Isla Mujeres and Chichén Itzá, and what sargassum does to a beach week. If a fact could not be checked, the page says so.
How we research
Checked sources
How we research: every guide is built from current, checked sources and updated regularly. Prices and hours change, so we show when each page was last checked. Some links are affiliate links; if you book through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Affiliate, not advertising
Some links earn a small commission when you book, at no extra cost to you, including Agoda and Travelpayouts programmes. A commission never changes a ranking or a recommendation.
Updated, not abandoned
Prices, openings and closures change fast. Guides are re-checked and re-dated regularly rather than leaving stale info to mislead people.
